Baba Nand Lal’s great grandfather Baba Raghuvar Das ji Bhandari, who lived at Batala (now a days in distt. Gurdaspur, Punjab). When Guru Nanak Dev Ji married with Mata Sulakhni ji in 1487 BC, he had done a lot of service. Pleased with their service Guru has blessed that Bhandari clan will remain abundant.

Santokh Das ji was born at Baba Raghuvar Das ji Bhandari’s house. Baba Rang Das Ji Bhandari grandfather of Baba Nand Lal ji Bhandari was born at batala. In his childhood, his father’s religious beliefs had a great impact on his childhood. Baba Rang Das Ji Bhandari started serving Guru Sahib at Shri. Goindwal Sahib with Guru Amar Das ji during the digging of pious boolee sahib. Pleased with his selfless service, Guru Amar Das Ji bestowed to preach and propagate Gurmat in the area of ​​Doaba. He performed this service diligently till his death. During this time, he along with his family left Batala and came to village Gharuan (Distt. Mohali, Punjab).

Here Baba Nand Lal Ji Bhandari was born in the year 1596 AD and Baba Jamni Bhan ji Bhandari was born in 1599 AD at the house of Baba Rang Das ji Bhandari and mother Mata Anandi Ji. Baba Nand Lal ji remained behambum(jati-sati) however, Baba Jamni Bhan was married, from whose clan at present Bhandari families lived in village Gharuan and in foreign countries. At present, Baba Rulda Singh ji is in the seventh generation of Bhandari clan. At the time of his death, Baba Rang Das ji Bhandari entrusted the responsibility of preaching gurmat to Baba Nand lal ji.

Amar Shaheed Dhan Dhan Baba Nand lal ji did the tireless preaching of Nam Bani in the area around village Gharuan and in Doaba (Nawanshahar, Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur etc.). With the help of which, thousands of Sikh sangats including all walks of society from Doaba and surrounding area at Village Batta (Distt. Mohali, Punjab) & Gharuan to pay their obeisance till today.

Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb came to Sirhind in December 1662. Those who came to know that Baba Nand lal Ji by preaching the religion of Nanak Peer, innocent Hindus and Muslims are being converted as Sikhs. Aurangzeb had ordered then governor of Sirhind at the same time that Baba Nand Lal was arrested and eliminated. Police force from Morinda was sent to arrest Baba Nand Lal ji from his preaching place gharuan. Braham Gyani Baba Nand Lal ji had prior information about this illicit plan. There after baba ji left for village Batta which had families of Bairagi’s clan. Following Baba ji, the Mughal army, started taking search of the entire village. Instead of falling prey of mughal’s army, Baba ji attained martyrdom in peaceful manner including the body left for heavenly aboed in 1663 BC. To memories his great sacrifice for the sake of good faith here is a martyr’s place at Village Batta. The last survivor was cremated outside the Village where Angitha Sahib(Cremation place) is decorated. The local management committee of the village Bata is formed for the maintenance of these two places.
